Meet-Up

Ever wanted to go to the opera but felt uncomfortable asking for “just one glass of champagne” at intermission?  Been traveling and wondered what opera looked like in Copenhagen (or Cardiff or Cleveland)?  Here is where virtual becomes real, where behind meets in front, and the real conversation about opera gets going.  Meet-ups facilitate discussion and community between opera lovers and professionals before, during, and after performances and encourages opera companies to publicize their lecture series, pre-performance talks, and Young Artists events.   From simple meet-and-greets to arranging post-performance dinners, here is where real, personal connections happen—in real time and in the real world, between real opera-lovers.
Here are just a few more ideas to get you started:

  • Get together for brunch before the Saturday matinee
  • Invite a singer and voice teacher out for coffee to explain why opera singers don’t need microphones
  • Offer to share your expertise on Baroque opera by mentoring curious opera-loving members in your community
  • Munch on chips and salsa with your friends while watching a movie version of Don Giovanni
  • Hire a pianist and invite some friends over to sing through The Marriage of Figaro
  • Reminisce about Glyndebourne or Glimmerglass over a glass of wine
