Micropatronage: an old concept made new
Pavarotti’s first singing lessons were a gift from his teacher because he couldn’t pay. Caruso’s first publicity photo shows him wearing a bed sheet as a toga… because his one dress shirt was in the laundry.
Imagine helping the next Pavarotti or Caruso to achieve his dreams. Here, in the Salon, that's exactly what you can do. The Opera Insider proudly introduces the concept of Micro-Patronage to the world of music. Open your home, offer a ride or dinner, donate frequent flyer miles or hotel points and help give the next generation of opera professionals a chance at their big break. The Salon is also the place to engage in meaningful discussions about opera today, find a mentor to help you understand Wagner, Baroque music, or costume design, and to tell your favorite opera anecdotes.
Whether you’re a Patron or Starving Artist, here is where you can request and offer either monetary or in-kind support. Please exercise caution and good judgment in both your offers and your requests.
Thank you for loving and supporting opera!
What car ads have you heard recently that feature opera?

I do not remember what company it was for, but during the Olympics a couple years back there was an ad for a food place that featured a couple having a romantic, candle-lit dinner ... with "La donna è mobile" playing in the background. I couldn't stop laughing.Tweet -

Yeah. People say opera isn't for everyone. So how come opera is used in so many ads? Help us to make a list of all the places (TV, radio, web) where millions are treated to opera every day!Tweet
